Attack of the Red Slab is a spoof 1950's sci-fi movie which was originally developed from a challenge to subconsciously change human behaviour. I was curious as to how the public would react if they suddenly came across one coloured paving slab amongst many normal slabs. Would they subconsciously walk on, or avoid the slab, or would the slab be too obvious to have a subconscious effect. I expected most people to avoid the red slab. This idea then developed into an outrageous film where the public have to avoid the threatening Red Slab i.e. Attack of the Red Slab.

I studied a lot of 1950's sci-fi movies and commercial material when designing my poster and writing the storyline behind 'Attack of the Red Slab'. One of the most interesting parts of the 1950's sci-fi poster designs is the use of creative typefaces which often look hand rendered. I also discovered that the surreal and often scary story lines are often balanced with a hint of romance.
